Who is Wayne?

Years ago, a good friend and fellow minister who had ample credentials, was asked at a large meeting how he wanted to be introduced and he replied, “Two words – gospel preacher.”  When describing who Wayne Monroe is, that’s as good an answer as any.  My life has been devoted to preaching since I was 15 years old and began to do ‘fill-in” preaching assignments at small, rural churches in southwest Oklahoma.

Life’s “ministry” journey has since then taken me to Harding University for my degree followed by serving churches in North Little Rock, Arkansas; Duncan and Tulsa, Oklahoma; Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; and San Diego, California where I’ve been since 1989.  The path that God has chosen for me over the past 35 years has been one of “church planting”, having the opportunity to be the founding minister/pastor of three new churches.

Currently I am serving the Ranchland Christian Church in San Diego as Senior Pastor.  The “ranch” comes from a number of upscale communities in the north San Diego inland valley that have “ranch” or “rancho” in their names.  I have been married to Carol (“song of joy”) for over 50 years and we have two married children and three grandchildren.  In addition to preaching and church building, I enjoy vacationing in Sedona and Maui regularly; mentoring and training young men for ministry; being a grandpa (to more kids than just my flesh and blood); and following my beloved Oklahoma Sooners in college football and my Arizona Wildcats in college basketball!  My latest craze is staying up with the technology/media explosion and having a blast playing fantasy baseball, basketball and football.

So who is this guy Wayne?  Family man, grandpa, sports nut, church planter, author, comedian (legend in my own mind), but mainly, a gospel preacher!
